The Witches of Eastwick (1987)

- written April 2006

Summary: In the small New England town of Eastwick, three women (music teacher Jane Spofford, potter Alexandra Medford and journalist Sukie Ridgemont) discover that their mutual wishes can cause things to happen in reality. They succeed in conjuring up a storm during a tedious school speech and they realize that they were wishing for the same thing at the exact same time: finding their perfect man. The very next day concert pianist Darryl Van Horne arrives in town and he proceeds to seduce all three of the women. Everything seems to go well for all of them, until one lady ends up dead and now their perfect mate may not be so heavenly after all.

Overall: This is a really enjoyable film. The cast is tremendous: Susan Sarandon, Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer and Jack Nicholson in and of itself but all give up awesome performances. There’s some really good stuff here and if you haven’t seen it, go get it. Fun stuff, great performances…just a good 120 minutes spent.
