Well, Nathaniel Demarest/Djinn is back again. Seems the opal has returned back to the statue that imprison the Djinn. That is, until the Museum gallery the statue resides in, is robbed by 3 bungling thieves. One thief escapes once the police are summoned but not before banging into the statue and releasing the opal. Demarest needs 1001 souls this time so he can bring on the apocalypse and where better to find 1001 people needing things than in a prison. So Demarest gets imprisoned when he takes the rap for the gallery heist. But after 200 souls are captured, the prison is all tapped out so Demarest finds his way to some casinos and finishes off the world from there. But our bungling thief, Morganna, still gets 3 wishes before Djinn can take over the world. What will she do?
Overall: Actually this was better than the first film, a rarity for sequels, and kept me interested. The effects are even gorier than the first one but still suffer from the inadequacies of the first one too. Story is better and slower, focusing much more on the details of Persian mythology. As with the current phase we are in with horror films, the gratuitous nudity has vanished and this, like its predecessor, focuses strictly on terror and not on sexploitation.
