Jin-sung and So-hee are best friends and ballet dancers. They each have the chance of winning a scholarship from a Russian ballet academy. So-hee is a privileged child who gets anything she wants but becomes the object of jealousy by Jin-sung. One day, Jin-sung discovers a sculpture depicting the legendary "fox steps," a class project done by the over-weight and unhappy Hae-ju. The fox spirit is rumored to grant wishes for those who managed to walk on the non-existent twenty-ninth step. Jin-sung has her wish granted and wins the scholarship after So-hee falls down the stairs and injures her legs. Hae-Ju also does some wishing but although both girls get want they want, their fortunes begin to turn dark. And someone who dies is gonna haunt them until the spirit gets what it wants.
Overall: The film just wasn’t as good as the first two films and frankly lacked some excitement and intrigue. It hints at a lesbian relationship but doesn’t really touch upon it. It’s more about jealousy and greed and frankly, the film could have worked without anyone dying. The problem with the last 2 films of the trilogy is that deaths seemed almost out of place...the films would have worked just as well in a normal drama. So there is a death and some ghosts here but no question the film isn’t as cohesive as it’s predecessors. It just lacks the flair and triumph of the other 2 films.
