Vampires: The Turning (2004)

Amanda and Connor are in Thailand for a little fun near the beach but after an argument one night, she is kidnapped by some Thai vampires. Seems that there are both good and bad vampires in this country all related to one woman’s break from her group. Now in order to save Amanda, Connor must become a vampire himself and use his muy thai skills so save her.

Overall: Basically this is a sequel to “John Carpenter’s Vampires” in title association only. It has some nice ideas in it but it really is just about Muy Thai kickboxing. There’s some vampiric references and stuff between chase and fight scenes. The film really tries to build a solid story with tons of plot and back-story but you really almost need a notepad and closed captioning on to understand truly some of the words and phrases. The sword fighting at the end looks as fake as it actually is…the swords are rubbery. However, it’s an amusing film and if you got nothing better to watch, I’d suggest putting it in on for a spell.

          Comparison: Bloodsport meets Near Dark
