Summary: We have 4 new recruits into the U.S. army and unfortunately for them they’ve been assigned to a research facility, for experimentation. From the first moment these 4 newbie’s should have known something wasn’t right here but after being injected with a serum, not yet approved by the FDA, they start noticing themselves changing, and not in good ways. Unfortunately for everyone, the first test subject is alive and trying to kill everyone in its way!
Overall: My biggest problem with the film was the combination of the casting with the film’s basic premise. The film intentionally wanted 4 losers, 4 unmotivated slackers and then they could do this medicinal testing on. And right there, that was my problem. I couldn’t for the life of me buy why these 4 would even want to join the military. Even their lines about what they’ve been up to couldn’t remotely convince of it. I think they cast four distinct looking actors to play these roles, and frankly they did a great job. I bought them being losers and drug addicts, etc. Which further made me convinced the plot couldn’t work. I just couldn’t buy the film’s premise at any point in the 90 minutes the film ran. There’s no way these 4 truly would want to join our military and no way our military would ever accept them. Now, if you can get by my issues and let that go…it’s still not a very good film. The film is often very slow only to speed up tremendously and then slow to a crawl, again. I thought we didn’t get enough of the scientists and too much of a lethargic Michael Madsen. And I’m not sure there was enough exposition to convince me that the serum truly could produce everything they wanted us to believe. And the way the “horny-ness” of the serum’s effect worked, was also uneven since I only appeared about once per character instead of as often as the plot had suggested. Just wasn’t a fan here.
