Turistas/Paradise Lost (2006)

Summary: Alex and his sister are visiting Brazil for some fun in the sun. They meet a few fellow tourists and when they all share a potential disaster of a bus ride, they bond over some beers in a small village. But soon they’re trekking through the forest and then being kidnapped by a local doctor looking to perform unnecessary operations. They’re all be lucky to just lose a kidney!           Overall: I was soooooooo looking forward to this film and by the end I was disappointed. Maybe I wanted a “Hostel” copycat and the film started that way, then veered off down the wrong underground cavern. I guess I wanted more surgery and gore and less underwater action scenes. The film is a fine film, keeps it interesting but had the potential to be great...yet didn’t live up to it. Nice bikinis, nice ladies, nice ideas...but the characters should have known something was wrong so much earlier. Just not believable. Really.           Comparison: Hostel meets Private Resort
