Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal (2001)

- written January 2004

Nick is a computer hacker with a love for heavy metal rocker Slade Craven. And the next Craven concert will be held on a 747 as it flies from Los Angeles to Toronto. But Craven has lost control of his plane and his band as a terrorist has kidnapped him and replaced him in the group. Now the live web broadcast has turned into a web terror-cast and only Craven and his hacker fans can stop them.

Overall: I eliminated the long plot outline of why the terrorist has kidnapped the plane because basically it makes no sense. This part of Kansas is said to be one of the most unholiest places in the world. Simon plans to crash the airplane into the church in Stull, Kansas, because Simon and the cult believe that Satan will be released by the crash. But why THIS plane crashing into Kansas? Why not just grab some explosives and blow a hole in the Earth if you want to release Satan? And why Kansas? They add some silly "historical fact" about the Pope's plane refusing to fly over this part of the U.S. But it's all silly. I guess a nice tie-in to make more sense would have been throwing in references to "Children of the Corn" and that maybe Satan = "He Who Walks Behind the Rows." As for Craig Sheffer, he appears in both sequels as different characters. It would have been easy to keep him as a hacker/plane repairman and have him save the world.
