The Walking Dead (2010)
- written December 7th, 2010
Overall:
I am reviewing the recently concluded first season on the AMC Channel.
We follow Police Officer Rick Grimes as he struggles to rationalize his situation waking up in the hospital as he searches the streets for his family and other survivors. What he must do is avoid the walking zombies who seek to eat him to death! Towards the end, the survivors decide to take their survival skills to the one place they assume is safe, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control). But is anyone alive?
What I liked about it: The show’s strengths are its characters. We learn a lot about Grimes, his wife, his officer partner and the survivors he comes into contact with. We get some vey real emotions and as they try to survive as a group and make hard and difficultly decisions that may not be the most popular ways to go.
What I didn’t like: I’ve never been a fan of the slow moving zombies and this is no exception. But what frankly almost had been turning this off was the opening episode. It’s a copy right out of “28 days Later.” For everything. The Plot, the opening sequence, everything is just a copy. And to make it worse, it’s not even as good as the film. Once they got out of the hospital and got everyone together, the season was saved for me but this was the wrong way to start for me!
Well It’ll be Halloween 2011 before we see more and given how the finale ended, I’m probably gonna stick around for more.
