The Uninvited (2009)

Summary: Anna Ivers is released from a psychiatric institution where she stayed following the death of her mother in a fire. She returns home with her father and older sister Alex. But upon returning, Anna discovers that her mother’s nurse has moved into the house as her father’s girlfriend. Neither sister trusts Rachael and when a local kid tries to tell Anna something about what happened on the night of the fire, he is then found dead. Anna thinks that what he was trying to tell her is that Rachael was responsible. As she tries to “out” Rachel, she realizes that this lady won’t let anything come between her and her man!           Overall: Unfortunately once a movie gets released with a surprise ending, it’s just too difficult to either remake it or do something similar without being compared and ultimately losing out to the first one. Here it's “Tale of 2 Sisters” which this film seems like a remake of. It’s a good film, don’t get me wrong. We have the evil soon-to-be stepmother and the 2 girls, very different from each other. We have a plot which speeds up and keeps your attention at all times. It’s a very watchable film. But in the end I still take “Tale of 2 Sisters” first. It’s creepier, scarier and ultimately had the more concise and believable story. But, go get both and compare and contrast!           Comparison: Tale of 2 Sisters meets Disturbia
