14 years after the infamous events occurred in Texas, somebody is finally ready to hold somebody responsible. One of the more popular female deejays, Stretch, is doing her usual nightly broadcast involving calls for on-air requests.
However, tonight 2 obnoxious boneheads are tying up the phone lines and as they do, they are attacked by "The Family." Chainsaws roaring on the phone, Stretch hears the carnage and pain that is inflicted. Now with Lt. Enright (Lefty) on the case, he has been following these events for 14 years - it was his brother’s kids that were killed in 1973. He wants some payback but only finds bureaucratic red tape because the police and other govt. agencies want this hushed up, not willing to admit such things exist. But Stretch finds Lefty and gives him the lowdown on what she caught on the air. It is then that Lefty hopes to lure the Family out of hiding, when the tape is played on the air, every hour. Indeed Chop Top and Leatherface pay her and her boss a visit. When all is said and done her boss is kidnapped for future torture and she is left to follow. But she isn’t alone because the Lt. is right behind her and he’s looking to even the odds up. And when he finds their hideout, all Hell breaks loose. Will Leatherface win this battle, or will The Family be history?
Overall: My opinion is that this film is the better of the 2 films. More gore, more action, more horror. Chop Top was killed in part 1 (run over by a truck) and for whatever reason lives in this one. (I've not seen the info for a fact but I've been told the deleted scenes basically say this is the twin brother of the hitchhiker from part 1 - not the same character but if so, it's not sufficiently explained in the movies). I think both actors did great jobs playing that character. The scene where Stretch's boss L.G. gets his face ripped off and still lives is fairly interesting -- I can’t understand how that guy got so messed up at the radio station and at the hands of Leatherface, made it alive that long, but then again this series can stretch the bounds of one’s imagination. Jim Siedow as Drayton Sawyer (Chili Cooker extraordinaire) is the only actor to appear in part 1, does a decent job here too -- played gas station owner in part 1. Finally, the climax of Leatherface vs. Lefty is fairly good and energetic. Comparison: Home Depot vs. One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest |
