The Strangers (2009)

Summary: After returning from a wedding reception, a couple staying in a vacation house receive a knock on the door in the mid-hours of the night. What soon ensues is a home invasion by three strangers wearing masks. They’ll have to try everything just to survive.           Overall: This had some great potential to be a scary movie and frankly it starts off that way…a bit slow but some nice shots as we see Liv Tyler and magically behind her is a bad guy…just comes into the picture, slowly and makes it creepy. I buy all that but then I’m waiting and waiting and waiting for something to happen…and it does, with 5 mins left to go. It’s a short film and frankly just not nearly enough action. It had such huge promise for me but just never delivered anything. Nice ending. And the characters weren’t afraid to get hurt or kill including the ending. But frankly it was so painful getting there it lost its “zing.”           Comparison: Scream meets Desperate Hours
