Summary:
Jeff and his 3 friends are in Mexico looking for fun in the sun and end up finding an ancient Mayan pyramid. With some newly found friends they take a quick look and then realize the natives don’t appreciate their company. Soon enough they realize the natives intend to keep them there but forcing them onto the temple and then surrounding the area to ensure they don’t escape. Guess the locals know a lot more about what hides here than our lost Americans do.
Overall: Not sure what opinions I had going into the movie…I think I hadn’t heard good things and sorta didn’t have the best attitude. But I was impressed with the film. Nice and scary, very gory and quite disturbing at times. I thought the vines mimicking our heroes to be a bit far-fetched, but given the film was based on a novel which treated these subtleties with more details and build-up, I’ll back off that criticism. But for the most part, some really good effects and by the time you get to the amputation scenes, you’re in for a gory explicit ride. Good stuff here!
