The Reaping (2006)

Summary: Katharine Winter is a former ordained priest who has become an atheist after her husband and son died while on missionary work in the Sudan. Katharine is now a expert at Louisiana State University where she specializes in debunking claims about miracles. She is visited by Doug from the small Louisiana town of Haven who needs her to investigate a river that has turned red after a boy’s body was found drowned in it. But as Katharine starts to investigate, Haven is struck by the other Biblical plagues and she meets a mysterious girl who is connected to the Plagues in some way. The deeper she gets into the mystery, the crazier it gets and soon, the Apocalypse will come!           Overall: I though the film had some real promise at times but it go so convoluted towards the end. Just so much information, so many twists and that ending, just turned everything on its end. I think if anything, they needed a script editor to have come in and trimmed off the unnecessary fatty parts and just left the meat. I will commend them for the Locust scene…really good CGI there!!!!           Comparison: The Exorcist 2 meets Bless the Child
