Damien Thorn (Sam Neil) has grown up to the ripe age of 32 and all the power of his family, he is now in control of. He's the head of Thorn Industries and an adviser to the President of the U.S., that is until the Ambassador to the U.K. dies under mysterious circumstances. That opening allows Damien to become the new Ambassador (a post his dad had in part 1) and eventually also the Presidency of the U.N. Youth Council. But Damien's power and identity aren't over looked for 7 Italian priests know who Damien is and after locating the seven daggers they go in search for the right time to kill. While Ambassador, Damien finds love with a British broadcaster, Kate, and soon begins to appear on her show. But beware of the alignment of the constellation Cassiopeia, for at the stroke of midnight, a young child will be born, who will be the second coming of Christ. With this new enemy, Damien resolves to kill all children born on that day. But just when Damien finds the foothold on the situation Father DeCarlo enters and finally the battle for eternity has begun.
Overall: Finally gives us a chance to see Damien get into a fight, unlike the prior 2 films. The film attacks you with politics and most of it seems way too improbable to be realistic - bottom line: too many people know too much for this much havoc to go on for so long. The rest of the cast is fairly weak and even to this day are unknowns. Sam Neil has had better days acting in horror films (In the Mouth of Madness, Event Horizon, Dead Calm). But at least it ends the series, or at least for the character of Damien...or did it? Comparison: Last Temptation of Christ meets Crossfire |
