The Howling (1981)

Karen has been having a rough time at the office…See, she’s a tv news anchor who has been getting to close to a serial killer. After one run-in with him, she bails out for some rest and relaxation at a local resort. But the resort isn’t what she thinks it is. It turns out to be a werewolf breeding ground and the serial killer is one of the success stories. Will she survive to make another newscast or be a successful member of the Lupis family.

Overall: Scarier movie than "American Werewolf in Paris" but the effects aren’t as good. I think I’ll take that film over this one, and forget about the sequels to this movie!!!! Film has some damn good casting, including everybody’s favorite Sinning Room Legend, Dick Miller. Joe Dante directed the film and he usually brings along the same actors to his films (Kevin McCarthy for one has appeared in 6 Dante directed flicks). This film offers us 5 people who later starred in "2nd Civil War," 5 from "Piranha", 3 from "Innerspace" and 3 from "Gremlins." There are 9+ minutes in deleted scenes but nothing special here that should have been included. 5+ minutes in outtakes but again nothing too special.

          Comparison: Wolfen meets Broadcast News
