The Fury (1978)

Peter is in Israel relaxing on the beach with his son Robert, when a
mysterious group of assassins splits the two up and tried to kill Peter. Being
a retired cia agent, he is definitely a target but soon realizes his esp-gifted
son is really what this group wants. Once he starts to look for his son, he
realizes that the place to look as it universities for exceptional talents and
with the help of a young woman, he does find his kid: kidnapped by Peterˇ¦s
nemesis!
Overall: I really enjoy this film and gotta recommend it. Most detractors of this film really are just not fans of Brian DePalma, more than haters of the film. But this film is not about the director, but about the story, based on the John Farrisˇ¦ novel. Special Powers, governmental conspiracies, chases, and nice tragic moments mark this film. Kirk Douglas, Darryl Hannah, Andrew Stevens and Amy Irving back the film up with stellar acting. Bottom line between this and a film that is quite similar (Scanners) is that this film has the better plot. Go for both though since each film has very well done "body explosion" scenes.
