Seth Brundle is trying out his new invention, a teleportation system that will revolutionize how people travel from place to place. He meets with a cute reporter but soon realizes that someone who can document his work can help make it all the more worthwhile. But when he decides to use himself as a test subject, that’s when things go wrong. Seems a fly entered the compartment at the same time he did and the program didn’t know any better but to combine the DNA. Now Seth is turning more and more into a fly and the only question is how many people he’ll kill before he goes insane.
Overall: The film that coined the phrase “Be Afraid, be very afraid.” This is definitely one of the few films where the remake is better than the original. This film is scary, gory, graphic and down-right a smart film. I thought the ideas of pregnancy, abortion, and slow insanity of the Brundle character were very intelligent and well-thought out. The sequel is just junk but definitely take the time to watch this movie. Comparison: The Hulk meets Bridges of Madison County |
