Dir . Joey Stewart Victims : Marc Donato, Whitney Hoy Summary: After a group of high school outcasts have had enough of the hazing they devise a plan to get revenge on the students that tormented them for so long. They have been picked on way to many times and have decided to throw a surprise costume party at a secluded ranch recently acquired by one of the outcasts. As they drug the guests of the evening the don some pretty wicked costumes consisting of a Takashi Miike-esque Eihi Shiina as Asami Yamazaki as well as a NAZI resembling that of HELLBOY?S Rasputin to exact their devilish plan. It?s quickly apparent they have no plans to leave the nights events and will do what is necessary to show they accused that they?ve had more than enough. While watching this flick all you can do is think of The Columbine school shootings and remember how bad that was. Overall: This flick hits home in so many ways as I feel it tries to convey a message that it's best to just do your own thing and do your best to be nice to any and everyone you encounter on a daily basis as you have no idea just how unstable people may be as of late. Let me get to the point and stop beating around the bush. These kids host the party, wear magnificently planned costumes; drug their accusers and torture them one by one in lesson plans. This IS their Final, if you will. I could just ramble on and on about this film but the bottom line is the acting is superb and the plot; although it may not be new,is solid and executed to the fullest with perfection. The violence is prolonged and disturbing, and the film walks a thin line that makes you question the motivations and morals of characters on both sides of the conflict. I will say however that I wish the director would have made up his mind if he wanted to do a Saw ? esque film or a Degrassi High type film with angst. I did thoroughly enjoy this film but do feel like it could have been better if those involved would have decided which direction they wanted to go. The acting was good for the most part and the situations were built nicely but it just feels as if they themselves didn?t care close to the end and therefore felt like the flick was rushed. Upon initial viewing I gave this a higher score then I will now as I write this review. It?s just one of those types that looses flavor the more you eat it. So you ask yourself? Is this movie worth watching? Yes I believe so. Can you call it a great film? NO, not by any true horror fans standard. |
