The Covenant (2007)

Summary: 4 young teens all ready to turn 18 are best buddies at a preppy high school. But there’s a new kid at the school and he’s gonna cause some trouble. And when all is said and done, the Earth will move from the powers on exhibit here!           Overall: Although some think the film is a version of “The Forsaken” or “The Craft,” all I did was chalk it up to a less homo-sexual version of “The Brotherhood Part 2.” Too much CGI and just enough naked men’s butts for the DeCoteau supporters, I did find the film interesting enough at times…but not for those reasons. I sorta wanted to find out why the filmmakers really expected us to support the spoiled rich good looking kids and turn against the poor underprivileged new guy and female transfer student. Seriously…we’re supposed to like these 4 guys? Why? They never seem to like each other! They spend much of the movie fighting themselves so frankly, the film has no protagonists, except maybe the girl. Frankly, had the girl been the special “5th” person, then that might have been a good script. As it is, just a boring high school movie with a little too much extra CGI.           Comparison: The Brotherhood 2 meets The Craft
