Stir of Echoes (1999)

Tommy Witzky is just an ordinary father with an extraordinary child, Jake who has apparently been talking with his invisible friends a lot lately. After a night partying, which involves a hypnotism session Tommy starts to see the same friends. Turns out the two have a link to a Samantha Kozak who mysteriously disappeared within the past year. The effects of the hypnotism are causing Tommy to begin to go insane – he sees things, hallucinates, and basically becomes obsessed about finding out what is going on. Maggie, the wife, is having problems coping but imagine how difficult it will be when Tommy starts to tear the house apart looking for the dead girl. It gets worse when he finds her!

Overall: Very good film and fairly scary too. It really seems like a sequel to “Sixth Sense” in that both kids see ghosts, both communicate with them to discover mysteries. Enjoy the scene when the babysitter comes over and monitors Jake via the walkie-talkie. Predictable scene yet still very chilling!

Comparison: 6th Sense meets Dead Again
