We have 3 stories based on Edgar Allen Poe short stories…

          1) Metzgengerstein: Countess Metzgengerstein is a vile woman who tries to corrupt her shy, loner cousin Wilhelm. Angered by his resistance, she sets fire to his stables but he isaccidentally killed in the blaze. Soon after, a mysterious black stallion turns up at the castle and she develops a strange relationship with it.

          2) William Wilson: A cruel man runs to a priest, begging help from the doppelganger that haunts and frustrates him at every turn.

          3) Toby Damnit: A drunk Shakespearean actor goes to Italy to star in the first Catholic Western, lured by the promise of a Ferrari, but is haunted by a mysterious little girl.

Overall: I enjoyed the basic premise of the 3 stories but the film is just interminably too long. Each story just lasted forever and never really got to the point in any of the 3. What’s worth the watching is the first snippet with Jane Fonda and her outfits, harking to “Barbarella.” But despite the great directors and even acting cast, the film just isn’t worth the time.
