Slime City (1988)

Summary: A student moves into a run-down building in New York City. His bizarre neighbors make a concoction in their apartment they call wine, but when he takes some of it, he turns into a deformed, murderous monster.           Overall: The film is all about a guy who constantly changes from a man into a slimy mutant back to a man again. He’s all over the place but slowly changing for the permanent. The film will live or die on the effects as a result…and it’s not good here. The effects are too silly and cheesy to be bought into and as such, it just doesn’t survive the long haul. And the film is just so slow and talky. We’ve got a monster movie here and we spend so much time talking and little time (until the end) with monsters. Skip it.           Comparison: Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Weird Science
