Summary: A team of scientists led by Hashimoto has captured the energy of the ghost of a child, due to a newly invented device called, a Menger Sponge. Unable to speak audibly, the police eventually enlist the help of Tung, who is able to read on lips, in order to figure out how this child can shed light on their life and perhaps help the kid find their way to the next place. However, everyone gets caught up in their new discoveries and when personal goals get involved, someone isn’t gonna make it out of this alive!
Overall: I think the film had some good ideas but got detoured a few times on the way to a good film. Decent effects for the most part and some nice acting. Well, until the silly CGI car crash scene...could that have looked more fake???? The end was actually sorta unique and different in reference to both Hasimoto and Tung. But I think the alternate ending on the DVD is actually the better way to go. Sorta gives you the real point of the film, re: Hashimoto and I think would have nailed down the point of the film. The other 11 minutes of deleted scenes were ok but would have really only made the film even longer than it was. Comparison: Ghostbusters meets Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure |
