Summary: Two teen girls, Sam and Corey, have left Virginia to start over. Sam's brother, Donnie, has died and Corey's too wild for her household. They have car trouble in a small desert town, where Corey immediately reverts to her bad habits. When a meteorite strikes a windmill, a homeless war veteran predicts the end of the world in four days. Now the question is, what is real and does it even matter.
Overall: My first thoughts when the film was announced were twofold. One, did we need a sequel and two, when would I get it. If you read my "Donnie Darko" review, you'll notice I was one of the few people not buying into the drama and the praise. It's an ok film that really is just all over the place. That's kinda the point and this film follows right in its older brother's footsteps. It's a decent film and if you're a fan of the first film, you just may like this film. I will add that this film shouldn't be watched if you haven't seen the first film - that would be very and necessarily confusing. Here we do have the same lady portraying her character all these years later which was nice. And we have a lot about our characters seeing the future and doing what it takes to make changes. Watch this only after digesting the original film. Comparison: Donnie Darko meets Thirteen |
