Summary: Ten years have passed, and Sidney Prescott is back in her hometown to publicize her new book. But a new killer is ready to terrorize her and continue the bloodshed.

Overall: I will say this in all fairness….I disliked the 2nd and 3rd films (which you can read my reviews on)…and frankly I didn’t go in expecting anything really from the film.

So with that in mind, I thought this film was “ok.” Better than the 2nd and 3rd films but clearly not a great film…not sure it was even a good film…sorta just “ok.” Given what they had to work with, prob did the best they could but frankly we didn’t need a 4th film.

I think the film has some major flaws…one of which is its own premise and attitude. The film tries to me soo smart, soooo crafty…so special that it’s irritating. Everything is about “oooh rules of horror movies, rules of sequels…breaking the rules.” They must have backtracked and contradicted themselves multiple times with all the “why is the killer doing this” stuff. And when you do find out who the killer is…it’s sorta of a “huh?” I think the film does a great job masking the real killer fo so long but when the reveal is finally upon you, it’s more like “why?” I think it’s almost too surprising that it makes no sense even when they explain it.

The film has a ton of action, ton of gore, tons of kills. It’s surely entertaining. And it seemed to do a decent job with keeping original cast and crew as best as it could do. And for that I’ll give it props.

Personally I just don’t think the film could have been any better since they butchered the 2 sequels preceding it. So there was nothing left they could do to surprise or make their film any more enjoyable.

          Comparison: Scream 3 meets Hatchet
