The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior (2008)

Summary: Years before Mathayus becomes the Scorpion King, we see his father murdered by Sargon, the trainer of an elite fighting force known as the Black Scorpions. Mathayus vows to avenge his father’s death and spends the next several years becoming the Black Scorpion’s top recruit and Sargon becomes king. Upon returning, Mathayus confronts Sargon but is thwarted by his black magic. With his childhood friend Layla, he travels in search of a sword capable of defeating Sargon’s magic. Joined by a poet named Ari and a handful of released prisoner, they travel into the Minotaur’s lair to find the entrance to the Underworld where the sword is guarded by Astarte, Queen of the Underworld.           Overall: This is a bad, bad film. I love Randy Couture and I love MMA. What’s funny is I watched this film the night before the Lesnar/Couture fight, which Couture lost by the way. But he’s such a MMA beast and a great fighter. But he can’t act and neither could anyone else here. The effects weren’t very good either. For the most part the film is not watchable. Do skip!           Comparison: Gymkata meets The Hobbit
