Return of the Living Dead 4: Necropolis (2006)

- written August 2006

Summary: Julian and his younger brother are orphans. Their parents died a year ago in an accident at the local chemical plant. Their Uncle is now taking care of them but he also works in the plant, and indeed is very responsible for it. When one of Julian’s friend appears to be dead, he and his buddies go looking for their him. But they end up finding out, he’s at the local plant and when they get there they realize that he’s about to be a patient in their zombie experiments. So they try and fight, only to realize they’ve let loose all the zombies!

Overall: I'm really sure that part 3 didn’t need a sequel and yet here we are, with one. The film does good but tosses in a "one sentence hook" to the first 3 films and pretends like it cares. They don’t. All the previous zombie rules are out the window. And we have some very inexperienced actors and some bad plastic surgery for Peter Coyote. The guy has some stupid, ugly grin the entire film, even when he’s not trying. And frankly, it’s just not funny. I liked the constant barrage of silly commercials, always referring to zombies, but the hijinks don’t ever go anywhere. Not a very good film but sets up nicely for part 5.
