Alice has just awoken with no memory of what has happened. Soon a para-military force has captured her and a few mysterious men along the way, and are taking her deep into the depths of Raccoon City. As each minute goes by Alice begins to regain her memory and that she is an Umbrella Corporation employee whose job is to protect the company from hackers and other miscreants. But it looks like someone has already done damage by letting loose the most deadly virus known to man within the building. With everyone else dead, only these troops and their captives can find out what really happened and stop the zombies from getting out.
Overall: Awesome-awesome film. I never played the game but after “Tomb Raider” I wondered if any video game could be a successful movie. This is. The story is great, the effects are even better and damn it, it’s just flat out scary! Love this film and recommend to everyone! 03/2005 - So with the release of the sequel came a “deluxe edition” of the movie including a few commentaries and an alternate ending. So the director lets us know that the film’s theatrical ending is the original ending but they felt it tended to be a bit “depressing.” So they re-shot the ending at the studio’s request to make it a bit more upbeat and when they reviewed their work, they felt it was too much action and only brought up more questions. So they left the original ending in the film. I totally back this up. The ending is the sort of type that basically says: “I know what we just put you through for 90 minutes but now we wanna make it seem like it didn’t even matter.” The ending as it is now, is just right, very pointed and appropriate and just enough to let us know a sequel was coming. In response to his review of “Deuce Bigalow 2 : European Gigolo,” the famed film reviewer, Roger Ebert decided to name his all-time worst films. This film made the list. Here is what he said: "Resident Evil" is a zombie movie set in the 21st century and therefore reflects several advances over 20th century films. For example, in 20th century slasher movies, knife blades make a sharpening noise when being whisked through thin air. In the 21st century, large metallic objects make crashing noises just by being looked at. Comparison: Night of the Living Dead meets Gremlins 2 |
