Andre Toulon is the ultimate in puppet makers. His puppets can walk, talk and even kill. It is 1989, 50 years after Toulon committed suicide with Nazi troops on his heels to kill him. Neil Gallagher has just died and his friends (Alex, Deena, Frank and Carissa) have come to what used to be the Bodega Bay Inn, now Gallagher's home, to mourn their friend. But once they get there, these 4 psychics all start catching vibes and feelings not felt ever before. It is then that the secret is revealed. Neil organized this group 5 years ago to find the secret to animating dead things and they focused on the Egyptian methods which were successful. Deena helped locate Andre Toulon's hiding place and the rest worked on the secret for a time. Years without word led to this moment and the puppets who lived with Toulon are out for revenge. There is Driller, Jester, Leech Woman, Pinhead and Blade. Unfortunately for the group, they may not make it out of the house alive - and Neil has a few tricks up his sleeve, for a dead guy.
Overall: Probably the best of the series although the effects are easily the worst in the 7 films. Interesting idea and some fairly established actors (unlike any of the sequels) - look for Paul LeMat and William Hickey. Not too bad of a film. Comparison: Dolls meets Witchboard |
