Summary: After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area's new razor-toothed residents.
Overall: Let me start with…the film has a Great cast: Christopher Lloyd, Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss, Jerry O’Connell, and one of my favorites: Devanny Pinn. So there are 2 schools of thought to this film and am quoting from comments on my Facebook page: “You don't need to turn on your brain for every movie in existence, Piranha is no Inception, it's just some brainless gory fun !” There ya go…a film with tons of boobs, blood and fun! If that’s what you want, what you are looking for, what you grabbed the dvd to watch, you will love this film!!!!!!! And now there’s my thoughts. It’s pretty much…unwatchable. Sorry Devanny. Sure, it’s good blood, sure it’s got boobs, and nudity and lesbian make out sessions. And it’s also got very obvious CGI fish which, for the most part, look fake!!!! It’s a film that takes forever to get started, lays on the blood and gore so thick, that it forgets about the actors who are supposed to be alive. The film is begging you to just hit the “fast-forward” button and “get on with it.” It’s a painful watch that really just was a waste of my time. Comparison: Piranha meets Jaws |
