Summary: A disfigured musical genius, hidden away in the Paris Opera House, terrorizes the opera company for the unwitting benefit of a young protégée whom he trains and loves.
Overall: Well, I think we all know what this is about. It’s a film version of the 1986 musical created by Andrew Lloyd Webber. What’s funny is that over the last 25 years we’re more familiar with the play and this film than we are of the original story and the 1925 black and white film. This film is for those of you who enjoy the musical. It’s a long film with all the songs and nice sets and such. The colors are nice, great musicality, etc. I would say for those of you who have seen the musical but not all the films before 2004…go watch those. Catch the old stuff first,. Then come back to the musical to see what you prefer. Which is scarier, more well done, more interesting, etc. Comparison: None |
