Summary: Zack and his friends are meeting up 5 years since their last get together. They’ve jumped aboard Dan’s boat and Amy brought her newborn with her. Just a nice boating trip despite Amy’s fear of the water. Sufficiently far enough away from land and people, they all decide to jump in for some nice water frolicking when they realize that no one lowered the ladder!!! Amy was tossed in by Dan in hopes to cure her phobia ensuring that no one is left to save them. They try everything, soon realizing that nothing is gonna work! And as the fear and terror sets in…this will be one long day and none of them might make it out alive!
Overall: Although I’m fairly sure we didn’t need a sequel, I did like some of the ideas. I mean, as silly and as generic as the idea of not dropping the ladder down is, it’s so simple that I might buy the fact one might forget to do this. Frankly, there’s few ideas of stranding them out there any other way so I might buy this. The added impact of the kid being left aboard does add to the tension...if you’re already a parent. As for the various ways they tried to get back on board...I bought most of them. I was ok with their choices although I saw the whole “let’s get naked and ties our clothes together idea” earlier than they did. However I think the problem with that call...they should have let the skinny girls do the climbing, not the big old hunky guy. If they had at least addressed that with some arguing or whatever I might have let it go but my first thought was to let the girl go up the clothes-rope. In addition, the film really didn’t focus on how tired they’d be after all that time treading water. We saw a few of them get hurt in their own special way but not much focus on sheer exhaustion. As for the ending…it went a little too long. Comparison: Open Water meets I Know What You Did Last Summer |
