Oil and Water (2007)

Summary: Dan Lake is a veteran TV newsman who is being moved onto something new, a weekly TV talk show called "Movie Celebrities.” He’s being paired with a Hollywood newspaper gossip columnist who is looking to get her feet in the door. Dan thinks he’s the whole show and Ms. Gabby is looking for a 50/50 arrangement. And from the opening moment of their first meeting together, each soon realizes that this is just not gonna go well. But hoping the can salvage this chance, they strive through it and it only gets more difficult before it gets better. Unfortunately the audience is loving the bickering and it’s more profitable to keep them stressed out than to encourage them to settle their differences!           Overall: Although I felt the film was a bit too long, you can tell where this is going. What keeps you watching is to see exactly what keeps these 2 working together. You just wonder what it’s gonna take before they strangle each other! Rosemary Gore pulls off her usual splendid performance. I think the whole toupee/fake hair thing for “Dan” was silly but at times just got me distracted too. But it’s a good film, worth the time and I think it’ll keep ya entertained, especially while you try and put yourself in Gabby’s position and wonder why she doesn’t just quit or kill Dan.           Comparison: He Said/She Said meets Bridget Jones Diary
