Casper is an elusive terrorist who will do anything to mess with Americans. But this time he’s met his match. After being caught moments after exploding a bomb in the US Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria, the US decides to secretly ship him across the seas to America. But he won’t get there if a giant Octopus can help it. Seems the submarine will be traveling through the infamous “Devil’s Eye”, an area of water known for ships gone missing. This “8 legged freak” isn’t about to pass up a “submarine sandwich.”
Overall: The movie definitely is a rip-off of other ides, with worse effects. No question as you watch this, you get the sense that they wanted to copy “Deep Rising” scene for scene and many times they do: cruise ship attacked by a tentacled creature…blown up later on along with the boat? The effects are terrible in regards to the sub scenes…there is almost no water in the movie, just blue background for a sub. Watch the way the sub moves and stuff...there isn’t any water there. The CIA hero guy, Turner, is very annoying since his character routinely refuses to pull the trigger and do his job...only at the end do you find out why. But had he killed Casper at the beginning, about 200 people would still be alive. His cowardice is so blatant that at no time do u feel sorry for the guy and instead you hope that his fellow crewmembers kill him instead. The ending almost was good if Turner had actually pulled a Randy Quaid in “Independence Day.” Ugh! Comparison: Godzilla meets Deep Rising |
