Interview with Natasha Talonz

- written February 18th, 2011

- Natasha Talonz has appeared in several movies, including "Black Devil Doll". Anyone looking for more info on Natasha or her films, can visit her at her website, her IMDB page.

Q: Ms. Talonz, can you explain how you first got into the movie business?

A: I’ve always been a huge fan of horror films ever since I was little, and that eventually led to me attending a few of the horror conventions around the country. Through friends that I have met in the industry at these shows, I eventually ended up picking up little bit parts and one-line stuff here and there, and then before I knew it, I was getting offered bigger, more substantial roles in several indi horror flicks. The "it's all who you know" route, I guess you could say.

Q: Would you please explain your acting role in "Black Devil Doll"?

A: I play the saucy cheerleader, “Natasha” (what a coincidence!), who loves to get naked and take very long showers. She's one of the lead character's friends that come over to party, not knowing that she's essentially being served up as a meal to the Black Devil Doll. But she does put up a good fight first! It was so much fun doing this role. Difficult at times, but ridiculously fun to shoot.

Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.

A: Just that it’s a really fun, funny and filthy movie. It was made by a group of friends that are all extremely intelligent but a little warped in their sense of humor, and it was really just made to entertain and get a lot of laughs. It seems that most people get the joke, based on reviews and things that I've read online. Those that don't? Who cares. It's just silly fun.

Q: If there were one part of the filming that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?

A: Most people would probably assume that it was the sex scenes with the puppet, those involved a lot of weird positions and contortions, but really it was the prosthetic neck effect. That took a loooong time to prepare, execute and clean off. It was hours and hours of just sitting around naked and freezing my butt off. Ed Martinez did an amazing job, the final result on camera looked so sick! But it was a long couple of days and very cold.

Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work they way you thought it could?

A: There were al lot of those moments. I think the first one came on the day that we shot the car wash scene. That was so crazy and so much fun to do, that I knew that if even the smallist percentage of that fun transferred onto the screen, this movie was going to work and really be a blast to watch. We really created a stir in the neighborhood that day! All the neighbors came out and were staring at us all, people driving by and taking pictures. It was really funny. Also, the day that we shot the scene with the puppet with his face buried in my butt. There were so many.

Q: Can you tell me a little bit about some of your other films and maybe a brief story about it? First, Vaginal Holocaust.

A: Vaginal Holocaust was fun because it was shot all on location at a campground, so it kinda felt like we were on the set of Friday the 13th or something. I also remember the feeling of possibly dying of hypothermia! It was shot in the middle of February and it was cold as hell. But we had a blast, everyone involved was super cool and easy to work with.

Q: Horror Convention Massacre?

A: HCM and HCM2 were both filmed at Cinema Wasteland, during the actual convention! Most of it was improvised, so that was unique and added a whole different element to what I was used to. Again, a great cast and crew and a total blast shooting it.

Q: Is there any movie director or producer you’ve never worked for that you really want to work for one day?

A: Considering that Halloween is my all time favorite movie, I guess that the answer to that would be John Carpenter. And I would have LOVED to work with Russ Meyer….I think he would have liked me. I’m really open to working with anyone that has a passion for what they’re doing and likes to have fun while doing it.

Q: What do you look for when picking projects?

A: That I get to be naked and covered in blood! But I guess it just needs to be something that seems unique and original, something that is way out there. I really love over-the-top stuff and I want the roles that most actresses won’t touch with a 10 foot pole, roles that really stand out. The crazier the better.

Q: What other work have you done in the past? Where might viewers have seen you before?

A: Aside from the horror movie stuff? I've done a bunch of modeling for various magazines, and I've been in a few music videos.

Q: Anything you wish to add for my readers and visitors? Something special about you that they probably do not know?

A: I hear all the time how people are so surprised to find that I’m really nothing like my public persona. I’m very down to earth and not some kind of circus freak, running around naked all the time. The acting thing is just another one of the many sides to me. Also, I have a degree in animal medicine and I breathe fire!

Q: Finally...this is an "Obscure Horror Movie" website. Can you name the last horror movie you watched either at the theatres or on DVD, etc? How about name a favorite horror film that you have seen that most people probably haven't seen?

A: The last horror movie I watched was He Knows You’re Alone. I’ve seen that movie a hundred times and it never gets old, I just adore it.

As far as a movie that most people probably haven’t see, that would have to be The Taint. What a great, crazy, low budget movie! So funny! That’s one of those movies that when I’m done watching it, I think to myself. “Damn, I wished I would have been in that!”.

Q: Thank you very much for doing this.

A: Thank you, I really appreciate the opportunity! And please let everyone know that they can find me on Facebook, just search my name. Thanks again! xoxo
