Martyrs (2008)

Summary: Fifteen years after a horrifying experience of abduction and torture, Lucie embarks on a quest for revenge against her captors. Along with her friend, Anna, they reach the house of the tortures only to find that not everything is over yet for them!           Overall: Undoubtedly when you continually see praise for a horror movie it gets your attention to such a point, not only do you have to watch it, but you expect something amazing. And with this, an unforgettable experience is what you will get.           The film is very gory, brutal and very much showing us some awful scenes of torture. As the film goes on and we watch our victim get beaten over and over again, it’s almost unwatchable. Reminded me many times of “Passion of Christ” in that aspect. It’s unrelenting. Then as you see why they’re doing it, what they are trying to accomplish, the torture seems not so gratuitous. The ending leaves you speculating and guessing and that’s fine. It’s definitely a gory, brutal, violent ride!           Comparison: Hostel meets Live Animals
