Interview with Marie Lynn

- written April 3rd, 2011

- Marie Lynn has appeared in a few movies, including a role in "Burlesque Massacre". Anyone looking for more info on Marie or her films, can visit her at her website and also at her IMDB page.

Q: Ms. Marie, can you tell me a little bit about yourself and how you first got into the movie business?

A: I have been interested in the movie business for as long as I can remember. I first got involved in the industry when I was 15. I did a local cable network television show called, "Motorsports Unlimited," where I was the co-host for about 15 episodes. After that, my first taste of a movie was on the set of the re-make, "Amityville Horror." From that day I was sold, I knew I couldn't get enough and had to pursue it.

Q: Would you please explain your role in "Burlesque Massacre"?

A: I had a small cameo role to help tell a little of the background story of the main characters. I came in at the end of filming the movie. Director Tim Whitfield approached me with it, and I've always liked working with him, so I was all for it.

Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.

A: Well luckily enough most of the reviews have been pretty dead on. It's a wild throw back to the 70s type slasher films. You have hot chicks, nudity, violence and gore, but there is a deeply sick twisted story that lies underneath it all. So you do get just a hint more than you may have bargained for going into it.

Q: If there were one part of the filming that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?

A: A: Well as far as, "Burlesque Massacre," is concerned my part was quick and simple. There really wasn't anything that posed as difficult for such a short scene. We are going to be working on, "Burlesque Massacre 2" this year where I will play the leading role, which I'm sure will have its share of fun times and things that might be more difficult than expected. But you'll have to ask me at the end of filming on that one ;) We are also working on finishing up feature film, "The Call Girl," where I play the leading role. So far most has gone as expected, it was definitely interesting walking around downtown Hollywood and getting on the subway in the costume I'm wearing in that film. I had some unapproving looks from people that made me really feel like I was the character.

Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work the way you thought it could?

A: As with most films you have an idea of how you think it will turn out, and you always try your very best to make it achieve that idea but with last minute re-writes or changes to the scene or character, bottom line is you never know how things are going to turn out, especially as an actor. You have your idea, and the director has theirs, and there's so much that goes into post-production, usually by the time the actor sees the final product its not quite what you imagined, but that's not entirely a bad thing. Sometimes it comes out way better than you ever imagined it could be. There's a lot that goes into making a film, and as an actor you just have to do your absolute best to help the director achieve his or her vision.

Q: Looking back, I see that you’ve worked on a bunch of other films. Can you tell me a little bit about some of your other work?

A: 1) The Call Girl: "The Call Girl," is still filming. We have probably one third left to finish. It's a dark story about two coked out siblings who end up accidentally getting involved in a murder. The story progresses in such a way leaving you questioning if what they are seeing is real, or just a drug induced fantasy. I play the lead and it's quite a ride for my character. Definitely something you'll want to see. Release will probably be around the end of 2011.

          2) Cabin Fright: "Cabin Fright," was a great little film I did with director Dana Skvarek II. It was a lot of fun filming in a log cabin in northern Arizona with the entire cast and crew. The story is about a couple who go to their friends cabin for a romantic getaway, but they end up getting more than they bargained for when they find out the cabin is haunted. That film is currently going around at festivals.

          3) Photographic: "Photographic," is another Timberwolf West production. It's a cautionary tale about the trials and tribulations of models in LA. It's a very serious film and shows the dark side of the business and the dangers that come with pursuing such a dream. Quite a little suspenseful ride with some twists and turns. I play a minor role as one of the models in the film. This film will be released early summer of 2011.

Q: What's next for you? Can you tell me what you have going on in 2011?

A: This year I will be finishing feature film, "The Call Girl," and going into production on "Burlesque Massacre 2." I will also be playing a role in Timberwolf West's new webseries, "Friday the 13th -The Obsession," which is a tribute to all Friday the 13th fans. Be sure to keep an eye out for it, if you love F13 you'll enjoy this. You can find their facebook page to stay up to date. Release over summer with many updates throughout filming. There are a few other webseries and feature film projects that are also in the works.

Aside from that, I also have a personal side project that I'm working on with an executive of a mini-major studio. I love the horror genre but I also want to do a piece to show the world that I can act. This is something that I am personally going to be heavily involved in and I will be developing over this year. It is going to be an intensely character driven piece that will challenge me as an actress and show the full range of my abilities. I am very excited about its developments. Stay tuned to my facebook and website for updates.

Q: What do you look for when picking projects?

A: A: I look for an interesting story and a character that can challenge me as an actress. I like to step outside of who I am in my daily life and really become the character. I am also looking to do more action type of roles, I absolutely love action.

Q: Is there any movie director or producer you really want to work for one day? Or perhaps any actors or actresses you’d like to star with in a film?

A: I really want to work for director Pearry Teo. I am fascinated with his work and think he's an extremely creative, talented director and all around awesome person.

Q: Finally...this is an "Obscure Horror Movie" website. Can you name the last horror movie you watched either at the theatres or on dvd, etc? How about name a favorite horror film that you have seen that most people probably haven't seen?

A: The last one I saw was, "I Spit on your Grave," which was quite disturbing to me since I'd never seen the first one that came out. A favorite horror film that I saw that many probably haven't seen was, "Frozen." It had a scariness to it that really frightens you based on the reality of the situation. It took me a few days to shake that feeling off from that movie.

Q: Thank you very much for doing this.

          A: Thank you!!! Much love!!

          XOXO,

          Marie Lynn
