Maniac Cop 2 (1990)

Matt Cordell isn’t dead, she’s just a bit colder than normal people. Despite Jack Forrest’s great shot with the pole through the chest routine, Matt’s will to kill is still going strong. Matt catches up with Jack one day and slices him up. Now Jack’s new partner, Teresa Mallory, must try to avenge Jack’s death. To do that she grabs Lieutenant Sean McKinney for help. But he ends up being more interested in the local police shrink and soon when Teresa is killed, Dr. Riley and the Lt. are the only ones left. The Police Commissioner's office is now too impressed being told that a deceased cop is killing people again but when a 2nd serial killer is out there killing prostitutes, he will try anything to stop the carnage. What makes everything worse is that the serial killer who seems to be Matt’s best friend in crime, ends up snitching out Matt. The police think the best way for them to lay Matt to rest is to give him a good and honorable funeral and that is all Matt wants. But the prostitute killer is trying to ingrain his own thoughts of mayhem into Matt - his love for death may just become an obsession.

Overall: Film plays nicely off the 1st film - to the extent it can, considering a dead cop is living and killing people too. But nice to see Bruce C. back. We add usual bad guy Robert Davi (License to Kill) as a good guy for this and the following film. Also added is "From Dusk Till Dawn’s" Danny Trejo, The TV Series "The Mod Squad’s" Clarence Williams III and playing the serial killer Turkell is "Relentless" Leo Rossi. The film even has some goofs -- check after 68 min in, there is a car chase and the camera truck filming the chase is easily visible!

Comparison: Seven meets Dog Day Afternoon
