This private school has gone high tech with new security systems in place, but at least one student is looking for the new revolution. She downloads the “Mangler Virus” which upsets the computer system which ends up with a mind of its own…and soon will occupy everyone else’s mind too. She’ll have to download some new hardware to get out alive.
Overall: You know a film is gonna be bad when the script calls for the punch line to be “you are the weakest link.” That’s a bored, lazy screenwriter. I guess the attempted connection to the first film was that the virus takes over all mechanical systems and as such, the machines start to kill people. But outside of the name of the virus, there is no connection to the first film. Hell, it’s not like the first film needed a sequel anyway...or a 3rd film for that matter. I’m not actually convinced that these actors know much about computers nor that the virus started to take control of things that aren’t even electronic. Or how about the fact that one scene the kids are in the Gym, in the dark and the next immediate scene they are mourning the loss of a friend...whom we didn’t even see/hear/get a hint that they were dead or gonna die. Scenes are blatantly missing – and it’s not my copy – check everyone else’s review. We all missed it or found the hole, as they case may be. The real problem is that all the deaths are always off screen, like with this and that isn’t a good thing. Is this a children’s film or a horror film? Comparison: Urban Legend 2 meets 2001 |
