The Mangler (1995)

- written March 2002

Bill Gartley runs a washing machine company and he seems to have a bit of a manufacturing problem. His giant washing machine seems to have a life of its own and it’s taking everyone else’s. He will soon have a mutiny on his hands...if they don’t get lost in the machine first!

Overall: Well the summary does give the film a feel of a cheesy story but it isn’t too bad. Ted Levine is pretty good; Robert Englund is so-so (he’s never been good on his own, only as Freddy). The problems with the film are both its predictability & its stupid characters. These have got to be the most moronic people in the world. I don’t remember Stephen King’s story being this bad (but then again remember “Sleepwalkers”?).

Comparison: Maximum Overdrive meets Car Wash
