- Madison Dylan is appearing in the new Cinemax Series, "Femme Fatales." Anyone looking for more info on Madison or her work, can visit her at her IMDB page.
Q: Madison, can you tell me a little bit about yourself and how you first got into the movie business?
A: I’ve always loved entertaining people and making them laugh. Growing up, I would do funny skits, mimic people, do crazy deep man voices, etc….anything to make someone laugh. I guess it grew to the point that I wanted to do it for a living. Haha. Instead of going to college for softball, which is what I had planned, I went to study theatre at SDSU. But that only lasted for a semester…I knew college was most definitely NOT for me! So off to LA I went, and pursued my dream!
Q: Would you please explain your part in "Femme Fatales"?
A: My role on Femme Fatales is by far my favorite role I’ve ever done! My character’s name is Alexis, and she is actually a lot like me in many ways! Alexis lures men in with her ditzy, yet fun charm. She may come off dumb at times like she is on a different planet. However, it is only an act. She is by far, one of the smartest Femme Fatales. She brainstorms and organizes plans on how to get revenge on men who have wronged her in the past. Not only does she do this for herself, but she is on beckon call for other femme fatales whom she is friends with, or have heard of her. It is an absolute dream to be able to play this role of Alexis! People often mistake me personally as being ditzy too, which is quite fun. I play it up sometimes, but I am in fact on the same page as everyone else….I have to say, it works well in the poker rooms… Haha.
Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one’s product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.
A: Femme Fatales is film-noir anthology series with stand-alone episodes. It was created by Mark A. Altman (Castle) and Steve Kriozere (NCIS). It is about dangerous, powerful, sexy women, and how they cope in day to day life. Whether it is getting back at someone for something terrible they have done to them (killing, making suffer, etc.), or just having a really REALLY bad day. There are different types of femme fatales. Some have a reason for their actions, where others have no reason at all, which is quite scary too. The episodes and characters become intertwined later in the season, which is quite cool to see how their lives are pieced together. If you tune in for the first time, you won’t be missing out on anything. However, if you watch from the start, you are in for a treat! Everything pieces together like a puzzle, and the outcome is incredible!
Q: If there were one part of the filming that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?
A: Sounding smart and intelligent is always the most difficult for me! In everyday life, I am ‘rarely’ mistaken for being smart! Haha. Even though I am pretty ‘with it’, I always seem to have people think I’m out in ‘Nowhere Land’ up in the clouds someplace. I would’ve thought that the hardest part would be the topless nudity, however, that was in fact, the easiest! I found it very freeing and fun! Plus, it is all so tastefully done, you don’t feel uncomfortable at all. :)
Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work they way you thought it could?
A: Filming on set, I knew Mark and Steve had created something special. All the crew, producer, directors, etc. were so involved and passionate about the show and what it was all about! That always makes it so much fun! Wonder Con in San Francisco was pretty cool. There were so many people excited and anticipating the show to start, which was really fun! But the moment I stepped into Comic Con, that took the gold! People had already seen the show and had fallen in love with it! It was the greatest experience ever to see how everyone, men and women, had responded to the show, and how excited they were for the upcoming episodes! The look on their faces were priceless…like the best dream ever! I’m very excited and honored to be a a part of this amazing show!
Q: Looking back, I know that you’ve also appeared in other films. Can you tell me a little about them and your experience with it? First, “Are you Scared?”?
A: “Are You Scared” was my first movie ever! It was very similar to the plot of “Saw”. It was a scary movie and I died within the first 20 minutes. Haha. There was a lot of blood, crying, and screaming involved, which was pretty draining, but a cool experience to say the least. I played a dumb model in dying need of a modeling contract. I was handcuffed, torchered, and ended up getting my face eaten away by acid…Ugh!! Awful to even think about! Haha. But it was a really fun experience, especially for my first project!
Q: How about “Prey for the Island”?
A: “Prey for the Island” was an independent short film I did. It was an amazing experience! It was written by a very talented, young director, Tim Pape. Everything he does, and has done in the past is very twisted, thought-out, and pieces together brilliantly. I look at all his work as a mirage of greatness. Even on his films like “Prey for the Island”, which are dark, he involves quirkiness for beats of comedic relief. My character, Sarah, is an ex-girlfriend/obsession of the lead. I appear as “Sarah”, and also as a green fairy in multiple scenes. But am I real, or nothing but a dream? The ending is left open, and lets you draw your own conclusion. What a great experience!
Q: What's next for you? Can you tell me what else you have going on in 2011?
A:
I have to say, I am most excited about an upcoming episode of Femme Fatales that we should be starting very soon! “Alexis” comes back again, and I am beyond excited!!! It is based on the movie “Foul Play”, which is one of my favorite movies of ALL TIME!! I don’t know too much about the storyline yet, but I know it will be amazing, as it is written by the best, Mark Altman and Steve Kriozere!! Soooooooo excited!!
Q: Is there any movie director or producer you’ve never worked for that you really want to work for one day?
A: Well, I’m working with a whole bunch of my dream directors/producers right now, which I’m privileged to be able to do! But in the future, one of my all time favorite directors is James Burrows! When I first made a “Dream Board”, he was my top director to work with!!
Q: What do you look for when picking projects?
A: I look for a well-developed character that has a lot of different dimensions. That’s why I am so drawn to “Alexis” in “Femme Fatales”. She has so many different levels to her, which is fun because it’s like I’m playing two different characters in one project. Strong plots are a must as well! It’s a lot of fun to add a little of yourself in each character. Whether it’s your quirky, cutesy, or crazy side! It’s always a blast!!!!
Q: Finally...this is an "Obscure Horror Movie" website. Can you name the last horror movie you watched either at the theatres or on dvd, etc? How about name a favorite horror film that you have seen that most people probably haven't seen?
A: The last scary movie I saw was “Insidious”, which was so sooooo good!!!! I don’t normally get THAT scared in movies, but this one was AMAZING!!! And my favorite scary movie of all time is “The Shining” ( the old version). Jack Nicholson is seriously incredible in it!!!
Q: Thank you very much for doing this.
