Summary: Masakiyo Sumida is getting around in a motorized wheelchair and communicating through a keyboard-operated speech aid. His disabled and we see all his daily routines, beer consumption, and fondness for porn. But when he develops a crush on his caregiver Nobuko, a college student researching for a paper, her failure to return the affection has him break emotionally and taking it out on unsuspecting victims.
Overall: This film is a tough watch movie. Not because it’s difficult to understand…but more to watch this disabled man deal with his weaknesses and try to be normal. But he isn’t an able-bodied man and truly shows us that it doesn’t matter, since he can inflict the same pains and hurt that anyone else can. We see his pain through his eyes, his disability, his frustrations. And we see him take it out on his friends. It’s tough to watch but it’s very well made! Comparison: Delivery meets Misery |
