Interview with Jenny Spain

- Jenny Spain is the star of "Deadgirl." Anyone looking for more info on Jenny or her films, can visit her at her IMDB page or her MySpace page!

Q: Jenny, can you explain how you first got into the movie business?

A: Growing up I have always had friends who were in the industry so I Was surrounded by it almost my whole life. So it was pretty easy to get into the mix of everything from mtv, modeling, to doing movies.

Q: Would you please explain your role in "Deadgirl.

A: I play the lead character Deadgirl. A girl that is found naked, bound in an abandoned mental hospital. The boys who discover her find out that she cannot die. So the girl goes through series of amusement. Considering the content that the girl goes through, I had to literally mental prepare myself for this role. What happens is pretty fucked up.

Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.

A: People like to misjudge it calling it a “Torture Porn” or a “Misogyny”. It is neither. It is a battle between friendships in High School making the right and wrong decisions. I think the reality of the film is more scary than the movie itself.

Q: If there were one part of the film that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a scene to work? Certain lines? Location difficulties?

A: My make-up itself was pretty difficult. I would be in make-up ranging from 2-6 hours and it had to be detailed to its perfection. My most difficult scenes was probably the rape scenes. I had to develop a trust and comfort zone with everyone to make this that scene a little easier. I can’t even tell you all the screwed up things that were going through my head. But most of all I worked with some wonderful people, we knew exactly what we needed to do and did it.

Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work they way you thought it could?

A: Yes! I read the script and immediately fell in love with it. I knew it was going to be good. It is something completely different from Hollywood horror. There were few that believed in it while filming and left the set. But the ones that stuck around knew just how special this was going to be. The ones who are visual don’t really see the actual picture and label it as something it is not. It goes much deeper than that.

Q: What's next for you? Can you tell me what you have going on in 2009?

A: I have a couple things in the works. One film I can mention is called “TRUST” and its about 12 washed out reality tv stars who compete for their last mins of fame including a huge wade of cash. The film is like reality tv show“ Big Brother” & “SAW” and will remind you of “Scream” and “I know what you did last summer”. People turn up missing, murdered, lots of sex and blood. Its good. Comes 2010

Q: Is there any movie director or producer you’ve never worked for that you really want to work for one day?

A: I would love to work with rob Zombie, Steven Spielberg or Tim Burton some day. I have always loved their work and it’s a genre I would love to continue to stay in.

Q: What do you look for when picking projects?

A: First of all the script. I love crazy, sexy and out there. It has to be real catchy. Also the directors and producers making sure nothing is shady and everything is legit and of course the cast. I’m an easy person to work with and get along with pretty much everyone.

Q: Anything you wish to add for my readers and visitors? Something special about you that they probably do not know?

A: I really appreciate everyone’s support for Deadgirl. I really feel we made something very special and we wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for our fans. Please continue to show your love and support and we will continue to be loyal to you. Thank you for seeing our film for what it is. You all ROCK!

Q: Finally...this is an "Obscure Horror Movie" website. Can you name the last horror movie you watched either at the theatres or on DVD, etc? How about name a favorite horror film that you have seen that most people probably haven't seen?

A: My last movie I saw on dvd was Bram Stokers Dracula and it is my ultimate favorite EVER! I am about to head out this weekend to catch Paranormal Activity. I will let you know what I think of it, so far I’m exited to see it.

Q: Thank you very much for doing this.

          A: No, THANK YOU!!!
