- Jenni Babcock is set to appear in the upcoming film "Caveat." Anyone looking for more info on Jenni or her films, can visit her at her IMDB page or her official website.
Q: Ms. Jenni, can you tell me a little bit about yourself and how you first got into the movie industry?
A: I began acting at the age of 8 or so. It began with the stage. I kept that up all through my high school years. My parents realized I really had something amazing and they sent me through modeling school at Barbizon where I had many acting coaches and auditioned for a chance to compete at an IMTA convention in NYC in and walked away with a trophy for dramatic monologues. When I returned I was hooked up with an agent out of Nashville TN who got me a few auditions and my first 2 films.
Q: Would you please explain your role in "Changing Hearts"?
A:I started out as an extra. I was kind of disappointed because I wouldn’t get a chance to show off my hard work with the acting coaches, haha. But then I realized that Lauren Holly and Faye Dunaway were in the film and I have loved Lauren’s work ever since she played the beautiful Mary Swanson in “Dumb and Dumber”. And I’ve always thought Faye to be one of the most dynamic and talented actresses ever since “Bonnie and Clyde” and who could ever forget “Mommie Dearest”. The film was directed by Martin Guigui who was a pleasure to work with. I remember sitting outside with my large cup of coffee, and one of the producers came to me and said Martin would like to see you. So naturally I’m thinking oh gosh what did I do…… So I walk upstairs and I say “Martin, you wanted to see me?” And he responds with “I want you to be in this scene with Lauren and I’ve given you a few lines” My heart melted! I was so excited. I approached Lauren and she grabs my hand and says “Hi I’m Lauren what’s your name sweetheart?” I smiled ear to ear!!! She was really sweet. So I got to be her nurse in the scene and later became her stand-in as well. Our scene ended up in the film when it was shown at the film festival in Nashville but sadly it was cut from the DVD version. But I wouldn’t change a thing about the whole experience. And an interesting little incident happened where Ian Somerhalder and I ended up with each other’s scrub pants…. He came out wondering why they fit yesterday and were now high waters today!
Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.
A: Most people might perceive it as just a sappy chick flick. But it’s so much more. It has meaning, it shows how cancer can affect the young and the old at any time so live life to its fullest every day, and it’s never too late or the wrong time to find love.
Q: Looking back, I see that you’re working on a few other films. Can you tell me a little bit about some of your other work?
1) A Bedfull of Foreigners
A: That one was the very first, I was a biker by the name of Irina. Unfortunately, the director of the film passed away so it never got to go anywhere.
2) Caveat
A: I am very excited about this one. I feel like it’s my “get back on track” film. My last film was 2002, so I have a big gap that I do not like one bit! I saw the post for auditions for this film. I read that they were accepting video auditions so I submitted my headshot and resume to Julie Ufema and she got back with me saying the pictures were beautiful and she later sent me the audition sides and she loved my audition video (which is on youtube!) I have a smaller part but I am very excited to meet this wonderful group of people in June that I am so privileged to have the chance to work with!
3) The Eye
A: This film is from Sick & Twisted FX, the maker of “Simon Says (short)” I am very excited to be a part of it. However, it will be revealed in due time…..
Q: Please explain a little bit about your modeling background and experiences.
A: I modeled from the age of 14, I’ve done a few runway shows in NYC during the IMTA convention, a few fashion shows in the DC area, some print work for a boutique and also Mannequin Modeling (my personal favorite because I am terrified of mannequins, so if I’m standing up there then that means they are unemployed :)
Q: Is there any movie director or producer you’ve never worked for that you really want to work for one day?
A: I would love to work with Rob Zombie and Eli Roth one day! I am a huge fan of Scout Taylor Compton and of course Danielle Harris!!!!!
Q: Finally...this is an "Obscure Horror Movie" website. Can you name the last horror movie you watched either at the theatres or on dvd, etc? How about name a favorite horror film that you have seen that most people probably haven't seen?
A: Ooh… Last one I watched was “Friday the 13th” in honor of May 13th! I think my all time favorite that most my age probably have not seen is the 1953 “House of Wax” with the wonderfully brilliant Vincent Price and Carolyn Jones and directed by Andre’ de Toth. I have to say my mother got me into loving the horror movie genre. She let me watch “House of Wax” when I was probably in first grade and I LOVED it!
Q: Thank you very much for doing this.
