- Jana Kramer has appeared in many films including "Laid to Rest". Anyone looking for more info on Jana or her films, can visit her at her IMDB page.
Q: Ms. Kramer, can you explain how you first got into the movie business?
A: Well, it was almost 6 years ago when i graduated high school and then i left for new york. I did some soap work in New york and then about 6months of being in New York i made the move to California. I got really lucky with meeting a great agent and within less than 6 months i booked my first job.
Q: Would you please explain your acting role in "Laid to Rest"?
A:I did a little cameo with actor Johnathon Schaech. We were both friends with the director and when we were asked to be a part of his movie there wasnt any hesitation to be a part of his movie. But I play a southern girl named Jamie who gets caught in the middle of a messy situation :)...
Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.
A: "Laid to Rest" is a great movie for the horror genre. It has lots of laughs, great gore, and scary moments. You will be entertained.
Q: If there were one part of the filming that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?
A: Well with "Laid to Rest" I only did a little cameo. However, I was covered in red syrup towards the end of the scene and it was kinda cold outside so being sprayed with blood was at times a bit sticky. I also had to lay down in the woods so all the dirt and leaves stuck to me....haha..i enjoyed my shower so much after that!
Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work they way you thought it could?
A: Me and Johnathon just worked one night and we just had fun so we knew it would work. Rob Hall is a great director and had a great image for our scene so i trusted him.
Q: I see that you’ve also appeared in other films. Can you tell me a little about each one and your experience with it? First, “Blue Demon”?
A: Oh my gosh that was the first thing i ever did. I was 19 and i was just so excited to be a part of something. I'm in the first 15 minutes and it was fun.
2) How about “Return of the Living Dead: Necropolis”?
A: This was my first big lead role and it was very challenging because it was filmed in Romania so i had to leave LA for 3 months, but it was a great learning experience and i learned a lot from doing that film.
3) And finally “Prom Night”?
A: "Prom Night" was a great film to be a part of. It was a great cast and though a lot of our scenes got cut, it was still a great film to be a part of. I met a lot of people on that film that are still great friends to this day.
Q: What's next for you? What else does 2009 hold for you?
A: Well i'm working really hard right now. I'm still appearing in episodes of "90210" as Portia Ranson. Hoping next season i'll be back on as well. I start a film in July-August with Ron Pearlman called "The Gate Keeper." And there are a few other things in the works that i'm hoping will come together.
Q: If you and I were to talk 1 year from today, what do you think would be on your plate at that time?
A: Oh man....I really hope i could tell you i was workin on a tv show and also have a few movies in the works.
Q: Is there any movie director or producer you really want to work for one day?
A: There's this director that I've always wanted to work with but things keep getting in the way. He casted me in his first film opposite Chris Pine but i turned it down because i chose to do "Return of the Living Dead" instead. His name is Jonathan Meyers and i really hope that we can work together soon. We are in talks of doing something hopefully soon. I also would love to be directed by Sean Penn.
Q: Are there certain types of films you enjoy doing? What do you look for when picking projects?
A: I love all sorts of different projects. Its great to play one thing and then be someone totally different. I like to challenge myself with projects .
Q: You’ve appeared in a few films, but have also done some tv shows, correct? Can you tell us where we may have seen you in those various projects?
A: I was in "CSI New York." Had a big recurring part in the second season of "Friday Night Lights" as Noelle Davenport. I have also been on "Greys Anatomy," and "Private Practice." And I'm still doing my recurring on 90210
Q: If you could choose only one type of art (tv, movies, etc) to continue working on, what would you choose?
A: I mean right now i cant be picky. I really just want to keep working. BUT....id love to be on a tv show and then pick movies that i feel strongly about.
Q: Anything you wish to add for my readers and visitors? Something special about you that they probably do not know?
A: Hmmm....I sing country music and play guitar:). Hopefully i've have some music for people to listen to soon.
Q: Finally...this is an "Obscure Horror Movie" website. Can you name the last horror movie you watched either at the theatres or on dvd, etc? How about name a favorite horror film that you have seen that most people probably haven't seen?
A: The last horror movie that i saw was probably "Nightmare on Elm Street". I'm in the mix for the new movie and so I wanted to watch the old one so a few weeks ago I rented it.
Q: Thank you very much for doing this.
A: It was my pleasure....thank you :) xo
