I Walked with a Zombie (1943)

Summary: Betsy Conwell takes up a position on the West Indies island of St Sebastian tending to Jessica, the wife of plantation owner Paul Holland. Jessica is not well. But soon, Betsy falls in love with Paul and seeks to help him by finding a cure for Jessica. Believing that the island witch doctors might be able to help, she leads Jessica through the plantations to a voodoo ritual. It fails once she starts to learn the islands secrets but that doesn’t mean the witch doctors won’t keep trying, if only for their own selfish reasons!           Overall: It’s an ok story. Basically lots of red herrings and misdirection before we get to the truth, then it’s all sorta bland and not worth the time. Nothing special here but not an awful film.           Comparison: Serpent and the Rainbow meets Weekend at Bernie’s 2
