Summary: Jennifer is an author who just needs some time away from the big city in order to compose her thoughts and make the current book better than any prior work. So out in the country she goes and runs into the worst nightmare she could have conceived of. It will take every bit of strength left to survive. Keeping her alive may have been the first mistake.
Overall: Another of the many remakes I ended up seeing in a 2 week span. Not sure any of them needed to be remade and although I enjoyed my interviews with the cast and the director, I’m gonna pass along that…”it didn’t need to be made.” The story is the same and frankly the films gives you pretty much the same disturbing scenes as well. They’ve made some changes to the vengeance and altered them a bit. And that’s all good for the film, but…it’s a long painful film. It’s like 90 minutes of watching someone get tortured. Sure it’s disturbing and gross and all but after awhile, it’s boring and slow and you just want them to get on with it. I think the first film worked better with the disturbed nature of the scenes and faster to get to our vengeance and buildup to our final climax. This film really drags everything out, slows it all down and it gets painful to just sit there and watch them wordplay with each other. Comparison: I Spit on Your Grave meets Backwoods |
