The Invisible Man (1933)

Jack Griffin is a scientist who has discovered a potent that can make a man invisible. The problem is he can’t change the person back and so he is afflicted while the inability to be seen. Although some see this as a blessing, it becomes a curse for Jack Griffin because the invisibility comes with a price: insanity. Seems the power of being invisible has such a mental effect that soon the victim feels totally invincible and get power hungry. Soon the entire British police force is looking for Griffin after some terrible accidents and incident involving murder and mayhem. Griffin knows he can’t be stopped if he stays invisible but the fact is...it’s gonna start snowing!

Overall: As weak as the effects may be 70 years later this film is still fairly strong film. The effects are decent, probably were awesome at the time, but what makes this film good is Claude Rains. His performance is awesome and basically you never actually see him but it is his performance as he goes insane that makes this movie a classic film. Rains just puts together some great physical expressions that despite that he is covered in bandages at times, you still can tell what he’s trying to get across and frankly, it works.
