Summary: The story of a family in search of help for their son, Dalton, who falls into a mysterious coma one morning. Little do they know that there is more than meets the eye as it turns out their son’s soul is lost and they’ll have to get it back!

Overall: When a film is so roundly praised…I get really jacked for the film. I figure if most people are liking it, there should be a really good reason for it. Considering I watch so much not so good stuff, a really good film catches me attention. Problem is…I get myself all so high and then eventually start to plummet back down.

So with that in mind, let’s go with what’s good about the film. It’s a relatively scary film. Not overly gory but very suspenseful and lots of good bumps and knocks and good, good scares. We’ve had very few scary films so this was something nice.

And now what was not so great….coming right after “Paranormal Activity,” I watched this film thinking the for the most part, it simply would be just a replica of it. As it turns out, the first half of the film is just that. Another “P.A.” film…been there down that. Once we finally get to the “astral projection” part of it, it turns very much into “Poltergeist.” And with that, shows its weakness. The film actually is very unoriginal. There is nothing truly new here…it’s just the same stuff we’ve all seen before. The film succeeds in being something scary for late 2010. And that’s good…Makes $$, brings people to the theatres, etc. But 5-10 years from now, it’ll just be a “movie” since it does nothing to differentiate itself from everyone else.

          Sad.
