House of the Dead 2: All Guts, No Glory (2006)

poster

Summary: A secret government team of zombie killers visits a college campus to find any survivors and perhaps a cure of the zombie outbreaks. But beware, one bit and it’s all over.

Overall: The film tries to be funny and cute and works much of the time in that regard. The blood and gore is campy and many of the scenes, we see blood flying all over, landing on people who don’t so much as either blink or attempt to wash it off. Now that’s funny.

The real problem was the plot. The film starts off with our college professor and a zombie out of control. Next thing you know, it’s 29 days later and the campus is too quiet. My problem is…how can a college campus go 29 days with such incidents and no one knows anything? No family members are worried? Does anyone leave the campus? How come this hasn’t spread?

The deleted scenes had some things that may have helped, at least the beginning, from feeling so choppy. But other than that, nothing much to write home about. Frankly the first film was sooooooo bad, this film was basically guaranteed to be better. It didn’t disappoint in that regard. We get a easy tie-in with part 1 but nothing too expansive. Only reason to watch this film is to get the bad taste of part 1 out of your mouth.
